The remarkable performance of Esapekka Lappi and also of NIkolay Gryazin allowed the Reggio-based Scuderia to move to the top of the world classification for teams in the WRC-2.
Reggio Emilia, May 24th, 2021
That “world champion” scent that MOVISPORT wanted to feel strong and decisive at the Rally of Portugal, the fourth round of the World Championship, has become stronger and stronger last weekend. And indeed, has turned into the leadership of the team in the provisional world ranking reserved for teams after the Lusitanian rally held over the past weekend. This is thanks to the performances provided by Esapekka Lappi- Janne Ferm and Nikolay Gryazin – Konstantin Alexandrov, both with a VolksWagen Polo GTI Rally2 in the race reserved for the WRC-2.
A strong victory by Lappi, who granted an encore after the one at the Arctic Rally last February. Fourth final place for Gryazin. The points scored by both, respectively 25 by Lappi and 15 by Gryazin, allowed Movisport to take the top of the ranking at 125 points, with the second, Toksport WRT, at 100 points and with M-Sport in third position at 71.
As regards the drivers’ classification, Lappi made an important leap forward, who from third to the eve is now in second place and Gryazin also made progress, for which Portugal had to be first of all the redemption from the empty beat in Croatia. The Russian, from eighth that he was before the Portuguese match, moved up to sixth place, an excellent premise for the next round, the Rally Italia Sardegna on June 3-6.
Lappi, who has yet to design the rest of the season, will not be at the start of the Italian world championship appointment, but Enrico Brazzoli will be back, also ready to give his important contribution to maintain the lead of the Team classification.
